abbrev.: BIS Bank for International Settlements Банк международных расчетов (БМР): созданный в Базеле в 1930 г. по Гаагскому соглашению о германских репарациях орган консультаций и сотрудничества центральных банков, исследовательский центр; проводит различные валютно-кредитные операции, является агентом Европейского фонда валютного сотрудничества, центром координации систем банковского надзора, был расчетным центром по операциям в ЭКЮ, предоставляет чрезвычайные кредиты центральным банкам, помогает им управлять валютными резервами; акционерами БМР являются центральные банки основных развитых государств (США - через Ситибэнк и др. банки) и восточноевропейских стран, а также ряд частных лиц.
